La Lumaca Del Parco
"La Lumaca del Parco" is the first and only Italian consortium dedicated to the breeding of snails, more commonly known as snails. The consortium is located within the San Rossore Protected Natural Park on the Tuscan coast, making La Lumaca del Parco the only consortium and breeding certified by a protected natural park.
La Lumaca del Parco offers products and raw materials such as certified snail slime, destined for cosmetic-pharmaceutical laboratories, snails for gastronomy and catering, and a line of products dedicated to the San Rossore Natural Park, which include food and artefacts identifying the Park. In addition, vegetables are grown 'in the open field' following the seasonality and course of nature. From the selected vineyards in the surrounding hills comes the Rossoré wine; it pays homage, right from its name, to the San Rossore Estate, the heart of the Park, enclosed by maritime pines and the dunes of the coast.
It is possible to visit the consortium and discover how the snails are bred, what they do during their day, how and why they produce the slime, buy the products and much more. Visits are usually carried out at weekends.
