Museo di Storia Naturale del Mediterraneo

Livorno's Provincial Museum of Natural History is housed in the late 18th-century Villa Henderson and is divided into several exhibition sectors: the Sea Room, dedicated to Mediterranean cetaceans, the result of years of recovery and study of specimens washed ashore on Livorno's coasts; the Invertebrates Room; and the Botanical Garden.
The Museum offers over 7,000 square metres of exhibition space, plus the didactic laboratories of the Environmental Education and Research Centre, the collection storerooms and the spaces of the Conference Centre. The Museum is completed by the Scientific Library with reading rooms and the temporary exhibition hall.
Since 2014, the 'Luigi Cagnolaro Biodiversity Conservation Laboratory', which houses around 20,000 zoological exhibits, has been expanded. The Museum is of regional relevance and all spaces are fully accessible and equipped with lifts.
