Podere Calvaiola

Podere Calvaiola

Podere Calvaiola is an old farm with 100 hectares of land, 20 of which are woodland, 3 of vineyard, 4 of olive grove, and the rest arable, generally durum wheat and oats in rotation.
Its land is a nature reserve where many species of animals (wild boar, fallow deer, hedgehogs, foxes, owls, hawks, porcupines) live freely, which is why there are no fences on the property. The farmhouse was built in 1750 and stands amidst Etruscan ruins; in fact, the surrounding countryside was part of the state of the Etruscans of Volterra and from 1700 of the Barons of Casaglia. Within its woods, in 1932, a tomb dating back to a powerful Etruscan family was found. This tomb is now in the archaeological museum in Cecina. This ancient farmhouse with its 360-degree view of the Tuscan countryside offers the possibility of exclusive rental for ceremonies and events, or even just overnight stays.
The elegant main building consists of an old Tuscan kitchen with an original vaulted ceiling, furnished with old typical furniture and the famous tables where women used to knead bread. There is a large room of about 400 square metres with authentic vaulted ceilings and large windows obtained from the original small slits for the cattle that this part of the house was reserved for, now restored. The room has been furnished by juxtaposing antique furniture with special design armchairs and modern works of art. There are large paintings by Alfonso Bonavita, pieces of a single work of art composed of several pictorial panels scattered throughout the various flats.
The farm offers a variety of 6 flats of various sizes for couples and families, combined with a relaxing swimming pool and pleasant views of the Tuscan hills. The 100 hectares of cultivated land create a private and peaceful atmosphere. Podere Calvaiola is the perfect place to relax and create memories amidst the surrounding beauty.
